The CiTOS team is happy to welcome two new PhD students.

Maxime Boddaert starts a project in partnership with the COBRA laboratory in Rouen, France. He will be working on the neutralisation of chemical warfare agents and oxidation reactions.

Isaline Jacquemin joins a collaboration with the CERM laboratory at ULiege. Her project will involve using microfluidics to develop photocatalytic methods to obtain valuable organic scaffold from biobased polyols and CO2.

Carlotta Campalani, from the Department of Molecular Sciences and Nanosystems at the Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia (Venice, Italy), joins the group’s growing contingent of Italian researchers for a 7-month placement as part of her PhD. Carlotta will be working on photooxidation using carbon dots catalysts.

Thanks to a rare showing of the Belgian sun, the whole CiTOS team was happy to celebrate a gradual return to social events: the annual barbecue on the Sart Tilman campus was a great opportunity to welcome new members to the group 😉

Noémie has successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled “Integrated Continuous Flow Photoreactor: Photooxidation of sulfides with Singlet Oxygen” on Wednesday, March 24. She is now working with IBA.

The work on the continuous flow electrophilic amination of enolizable ketone substrates with nitroso derivatives is now published in the journal Green Chemistry (A modular, low footprint and scalable flow platform for the expedient ?-aminohydroxylation of enolizable ketones – Green Chemistry (RSC Publishing) )

Michael produced another beautiful cover artwork that is featured as a front cover of the April issue.

Maurane Moors and Yasemin Sicim join the group as Master students.

Geoffroy Kaisin also joins the group as an industrial partner from O&OC.

Diana Silva Brenes joins the group as a Postdoctoral Researcher within the framework of a NASA EPSCoR grant, as part of a partnership with Pr. Torsten Stelzer at the Crystallization Design Institute of the University of Puerto Rico. Her project will aim to develop a Personalized Medication System for Deep Space Missions.

Romaric has successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled “Continuous flow strategies for the upgrading of biobased molecules” on Friday, September 18. He is now heading to Jensen’s group at MIT (Jensen Research Group – MIT Department of Chemical Engineering) with a BAEF fellowship (BAEF – Belgian American Educational Foundation)
